Fahrenheit 451 (27)

Fahrenheit 451
By Ray Bradbury

This was recommend by a co-worker at the City. It is in a similar vein as 1984. In a world of fireproof homes, fireman don't put out the fires the start them. 451F is the temp that paper burns at. Owning books is illegal, and when found the Firemen come and burn them... Our lead character meets the odd 17 year old neighbor girl who makes him look at thing differently... We then find out he has been stealing books.. and get a good lesson on why books were outlawed.. and then his escape.
Nice glimpses of a futuristic world both in the physical world, as well as policical/socialigical.
I didnt care for the development of the neighbor girl.. and he actually addresss that in the afterword piece. The ending is a bit vaugue..
Over all not a great book.. but the topic gives you a lot to think about.. if you like 1984 then this is a must read.
